Children Of Orion
by Robert Ipcar

With the arrival of survivors from the Colony Ship Orion, a centuries old pact between the Wai'min hunters and their humanoid Mateek counterparts is abruptly shattered. Innocence comes to an abrupt end for T'Nahla, a young Wai'min woman on her coming of age trek, as it does for virtual-gladiator, Jayson Lynn, who yearns to free himself from the militaristic society which has followed him to this uncharted ringed world.

For Science Officer, Randa Zyaina, the Colony's rigid code of caste and discipline will no longer provide a convenient hiding place: love, family and purpose once more eluding her. Yet she and Jayson must face an unsettling choice: accept an increasingly hostile alien world as their own, or rejoin the Colony whose values have become unconscionable.

Children of Orion, by Maine-born, Brooklyn Author, Robert Ipcar, has strong women characters, compelling dialogue and a survivor type plot with enough twists to make an exasperated Zyaina want life to "... hold up for one goddamn second!"
